Apply now for absentee ballots

Voters in Kingfisher County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for the upcoming school bond elections in Cashion and Kingfisher and municipal election in Dover should apply now, Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts said.The special election is Tuesday, Sept. 10.

County opens bids for District 1 projects

Kingfisher County commissioners opened bids on two projects in District 1 and tabled them on the motion of District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss to allow additional staff study. Three bids were submitted on a project to widen a bridge about one-eighth mile south of S.H.

Kingfisher, Dover, Loyal see higher tax checks

Kingfisher, Dover and Loyal had increases in their August sales tax checks, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The state tax commission receives and distributes sales tax for local entities of government while handling the state sales tax.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: August 2 - Larceny/ knowingly concealing stolen property. Officer Bro-den Carls took a report from a Love’s employee concerning the theft of a 100-foot garden hose valued at $80.

City allows parking on local lawns

Parking on the grass in residential areas may become more common under an ordinance adopted by Kingfisher city commissioners last week.

Auction correction

A listing in Wednesday’s “Keeping It Local” schedule of events incorrectly stated that the meal included in the admission to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School’s Aug. 24 benefit auction is a ribeye steak dinner. The steak dinner is actually one of the items that will be auctioned.
