Academic state champs honored at Capitol

The Kingfisher High School boys track and field team was recognized at the state Capitol Thursday, May 16, for winning the 2019 Class 4A academic state championship. The team was honored on the House floor and Senate gallery by Majority Leader, Rep. Mike Sanders, Sen. Darcy Jech and Sen. Chuck Hall.

Water, sewer and trash rates set to go up 3 percent in Hennessey

Effective July 1, the water, sewer and trash rates for Hennessey customers will go up 3 percent.That’s what the Hennessey Board of Trustees decided at their monthly meeting last week.The last raise in utilities was in 2010, and the cost of living has gone up 2.

Extension hosts cake decorating workshop

Kingfisher County Extension hosted a basic cake decorating workshop for the members of the community on May 14. The class was held at the Kingfisher County Extension Office. Lindy Hoel, the FCS educator, was the instructor and provided materials for the class.

Kuehns celebrating 40th wedding anniversary

Eddie and Jane Kuehn of Kingfisher will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a come-and-go reception from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the First Baptist Church of Kingfisher’s Con-NEXTion building. The reception will be hosted by their children.

Ron and Janet Pennington of Kingfisher announce the engagement and pending marriage of their daughter Kaci to Briley Baca of Clinton. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Bryan and Leadell Baca of Clinton. The bride-elect is a 2016 graduate of Kingfisher High School.

Participants pick up painting tips during Extension classes

Kingfisher County HCE sponsored a paint day workshop for the members of the community on May 9. Classes were held at noon and 5:30 p.m. Lindy Hoel, the FCS educator was the instructor of the class and guided the group on how to paint a picture on a canvas.
