Heavy rains on sodden ground lead to flash floods

HIGH WATER MARK When it rains, it pours. Kingfisher County got a clearer understanding of the old motto on a Morton salt box Tuesday night when from 2.5 to five inches of additional rain fell on already sodden Kingfisher County soil.

National champs recognized at state Capitol

The Kingfisher FFA Chapter’s two national championship teams were honored at the state Capitol on April 8, by House Majority Leader, Rep. Mike Sanders, Sen. Darcy Jech and Sen. Chuck Hall.

BancFirst bringing children’s theatre to Kingfisher

Elementary students in Kingfisher this week will experience a performance from the BancFirst Tour of the Oklahoma Children’s Theatre. Each year BancFirst joins Oklahoma Children’s Theatre to sponsor performances in communities around the state.

SWOSU lists honor rolls

A total of 1403 students have been named to honor rolls at Southwestern Oklahoma State University for academic work during the 2019 spring semester on the Weatherford and Sayre campuses.            There were 629 students named to the President’s Honor Roll.

19 attend barn quilt workshop

Kingfisher County Extension hosted a barn quilt workshop for members of the community on April 20. Lindy Hoel, the FCS educator and instructor of the class, provided the paint, patterns, boards and other materials for the workshop.

Jeanne Mackey hosts April meeting of Plainview HCE

Plainview HCE held its monthly meeting Monday, April 8, in the home of Jeanne Mackey. Dana Golbek, president, brought the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Members recited pledges to American and Oklahoma flags, followed by the devotion.

EPIC student Sanders inducted into NHS during May ceremony

EPIC Charter School has announced 438 EPIC students from across the state will be inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). Among those inducted into the NHS was Emily Sanders of Kingfisher.
