Glenda Jeanine “Jeanie” (Lunnon) Frame, 78, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Baylor, Scott and White Hospital in Plano, Texas.   She was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Kingfisher to Elba and Grace (Baughn) Lunnon. Jeanie married Richard McKee after high school.

Mary Ruth Short Karrenbrock passed away April 18, 2019, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Oklahoma City to Radford and Cora Short. Mary graduated from Dover High School in 1950. She married Wayne Karrenbrock Aug. 3, 1952.

A driver and passenger in a silver Chevrolet pickup were arrested on alleged alcohol-related charges Saturday, but not before leading three Kingfisher County sheriff’s deputies and two Kingfisher police officers on a high-speed chase in and around Kingfisher.

Only Kingfisher and Loyal in Kingfisher County had increases in sales tax checks for April. Kingfisher’s tax check for April totaled $491,264.16, up from $404,181.06 from April 2018. Loyal’s check rose to $6,971.86 derived from a 4 percent tax this April compared to $2,626.

The Christian celebration of Easter likely was even more meaningful this year for at least one Kingfisher resident who just spent nine days in Turkey touring sites of the early churches of the New Testament.

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for March 2019. Selected by the teachers were freshman Jesus Lupercio, sophomore Cora Taylor, junior Jentry Squires and senior Stone Snodgrass. Lupercio is the son of Jesus Lupercio and Lenor Lupercio.

Kingfisher Heritage School announced its Great Expectations Students of the Month at Jacket Roundup on April 5.
