I was very upset after reading the police report of the four dogs that were found on East Robberts Avenue.Two were already dead, one barely alive and the chained dog had to be put to “sleep.

Matousek elected president of Hennessey school board

Dr. James Matthew Matousek was elected president of the Hennessey Board of Education during its meeting Monday night.This will be his fourth time to serve as president and it’s in his blood. ( Ed. note: See upcoming editions about his father, David, and grandfather, Ernest.

Michael Henry White, 77, of Kingfisher, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Oklahoma City.A celebration of life will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the Gathering, 305 N. Main St., Kingfisher.Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Robert Leon Swart was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Perry to Ted and Mary Ruth (Gross) Swart. He passed away April 10, 2025, at the age of 90.He attended Perry Public schools and graduated in 1952.He went on to A&M College now known as Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1957.

Lady Jackets 2nd at Chisholm meet

Scout Snodgrass brought home four medals - including two golds - to lead Kingfisher High School to a runner-up finish at the Chisholm High School Track & Field Meet.The junior won the 800 meter run on Friday and was also a part of the gold medal-winning 3,200 meter relay team.

Kingfisher shot a 416 last Thursday to take third place in the large school division at the Mooreland Girls Invitational at Boiling Springs Golf Course in Woodward. Senior Raegan Snider (far right) fired an 84 to tie for first place with Grace Meacham of Clinton.

Okarche wins Turkey Creek

Okarche was the team champ at last Friday’s Turkey Creek Invitational golf tournament in Hennessey.The Warriors shot a 329 to best Crescent by 16 strokes.Hennessey placed third with a 347.Three different Warriors were among the top 10 individuals.

Jackets fighting to secure playoff spot

The Kingfisher boys soccer team is in the busiest stretch of its season - and also its most important.By Thursday, KHS will have played four games in a week, including three in a four-day stretch.
