No races develop for fair board election

There will be no county fair board election this year.Three candidates filed unopposed for the three positions up for election – David Gerken of Cashion, District 1; Chad Charmasson of Hennessey, District 2, and Matthew Walta of Kingfisher, District 3.Gerken returns to the board for District 1.

GCC event to benefit community center is pushed back one week

An event to benefit the Lone Oak Community Center has been rescheduled.It will now be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.It was originally scheduled for this Saturday, Feb. 4.God’s Covenant Church will be the location of the event to raise funds for the community center.

KHS girls basketball grabs big invitation

Before there was the Tournament of Champions for girls, there was the Bertha Frank Teague Mid-America Classic.Kingfisher High School will get the opportunity to take part in “Oklahoma’s premier girls basketball tournament” in December as part of the 2023-24 season.

The University of Oklahoma announced last week the students named to its fall 2022 honor roll, a distinction given to those who achieve the highest academic standards.A total of 9,260 students were named to the fall 2022 honor roll.

Kingfisher High School seniors Avery Davis and Cash Slezickey have been announced as the Junior Lions for January 2023.Davis is the daughter of Lindsay and Kelly Kopp and Brandon and Aly Davis.She’s active in soccer, cross country, Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
