Gay Means Chambers felt the need for a group in the Hennessey community for lonely or grieving people to meet, visit, share ideas, comfort, socialize and have fellowship.She advertised such a meeting on Oct. 15 at Family Cafe and 15 people attended.

County students place in 76th AFR speech competition

Twenty-four Kingfisher County students from three different schools placed in their respective categories at the American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Northwest District Speech Contest held Nov. 18 in Enid.Ten placers came from Kingfisher, eight from Dover and six more from Lomega.

Following are reports recently filed by members of the Hennessey Police Department:Helmet complaint – A caller reported Oct. 31 that children on three-wheelers without helmets were riding in the streets and in a field.

County Oks $20 million budget for FY 2022

Kingfisher County’s budget for the 2022 fiscal year was timely filed with the state auditor and inspector on Nov. 10, County Clerk Jeannie Boevers reported to county commissioners.The budget will be met with $20,880,353.63 estimate of needs with a carryover from the 2021 F.Y. budget of $15,717,209.

Glimpses of winter this week

There was a coating of ice on outside receptacles Monday morning as the thermometer continued its slide into winter type temperatures.The reading at 8 a.m. Monday in Kingfisher was a frigid 30 degrees.
