Kingfisher Rotary Club hosts Munoz, Orozco, Padilla, Haro

Four Kingfisher High School seniors were guests last week at the Kingfisher Rotary Club’s weekly meeting. Joining the civic group members were Ali Padilla, Aryan Haro, Joel Munoz and Sebastian Orozco. Padilla is the son of Carmen Munoz and Benard Padilla. He plays soccer for KHS.

County 4-H teens attend leadership conference

Kingfisher County 4-H members in seventh grade and older attended the West District Action Conference held Oct. 16-18 in Del City. Kingfisher County had six youth in attendance, including Elizabeth Perdue, who served as the West District 4-H vice president over the past year.

New Dover coach set for debut

In talking with people around Dover High School, there’s a prevailing feeling about new boys basketball coach Aaron Norton. “He’s a really good guy,” was echoed by everyone from Principal Kyle Karns to baseball coach Dylan Blundell to girls basketball coach Byron Randle.

Kingfisher JV, 7th grade get wins over Bobcats

Cade Cooper had a pair of touchdown runs and Jax Stern-berger accounted for four total touchdowns Monday in Kingfisher JV’s 48-0 victory over Bridge Creek. Both of Cooper’s scoring runs came in the first quarter as he found the end zone from 4 and 15 yards.

ALL-DISTRICT

Kingfisher junior Mia Farrell has picked up another softball honor. The KHS outfielder was selected to the 4A-1 all-district team, it was announced after a meeting of coaches last week. Farrell led the Lady Jackets with a .391 batting average in 2019 and also had a team-high 43 hits.

Beverly Hubbard

Beverly Jo Hubbard was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Comanche to John and Pauline Nicklas. She lived most of her life in Kingfisher as a newspaper wife and homemaker. She went to be with her Lord peacefully at home the morning of Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the age of 83.

Traffic accident

The following traffic accident is being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:October 15, 5:45 p.m. - At U.S. 81 and Robberts Avenue. Cindy Valles, 26, Dover, driving a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, was northbound on U.S. 81 and stopped at the stoplight of U.S. 81 and Robberts intersection.
