KPS board to meet Monday

Kingfisher Board of Education’s agenda for its October regular meeting is a brief one, but it won’t be the only one this week. The board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. Among the action items is setting all the meeting dates and times for the board’s 2020 meetings.

Tuesday night crash claims four lives, OHP reports

An SUV driver and three passengers were killed Tuesday night south of Kingfisher when their vehicle collided from behind with the trailer of a commercial truck parked on the shoulder of U.S. 81, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol news release. The accident occurred about 7:25 p.m.

Midship Pipeline making progress

Construction is nearly 75% complete on the Midship Pipeline project, the roughly 200-mile natural gas pipeline running from Kingfisher to Bryan counties that will open a direct route to the Gulf Coast.

The times they are a changin’

Five Kingfisher runners – three of them on the girls team – ran their best times of the season last week at the Watonga Cross Country Invitational. Katon Lunsford, Ashtin Witt and Dani Ramirez clocked their best times of 2019 on Watonga’s 3,200 meter course. Lunsford finished in 13:30.

Quartet of KHS seniors guests at Kingfisher Rotary Club

Four Kingfisher High School seniors were guests at a recent meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Joining the civic group were Ashley Poarch, Callie Varnell, Maximillian Rayner and Kamdyn Duncanson. Poarch is the daughter of Trey and Hope Poarch.

Life Chain event planned Sunday in Hennessey

Hennessey will once again be the site this Sunday of an annual pro-life event. Life Chain, now in its 32nd year, will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the corner of U.S. 81 and State Highway 51.

2 local blood drives planned

Two blood drives are planned in Kingfisher County next week. Drives scheduled include: • Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Kingfisher Corner Nutrition, 223 N. Main St., from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and, • Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Dover High School, 201 N. Taylor, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
