Kingfisher Altrua Club holds meeting at museum

The Kingfisher Altrua Club met Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Chisholm Trail Museum. Terri Peck served as hostess. Taylor Stober, museum curator, told members about current new exhibits and others being planned.

Hennessey Child Study Club meets twice in September

The Hennessey Child Study Club held its regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 19, and also met Thursday, Sept. 5, at the home of past president Missy Choate for a summer outing. There were 17 members at the regular meeting and 18 at the Choate home.

Extension hosting barn quilt workshop

Barn quilts will be the subject of a Kingfisher County Extension workshop in October. The workshop is scheduled 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares that are hung on a barn or on a house.

Softball season comes to close

The 2019 softball campaign came to a close Thursday for the Kingfisher Lady Jackets. In a makeup game, KHS was shutout 4-0 on the road by Cushing in a District 4A-1 matchup. The loss gave the Lady Jackets a 16-18 overall record for the season and a 2-10 mark in the district.

KMS 8th grade tops Bethany; Bronchos win 7th, JV contests

Kingfisher’s eighth grade on Tuesday salvaged a win for the Yellowjacket program against Bethany on the football field this year. The Jackets knocked off the Bronchos’ eighth grade 27-12 in Bethany. Kale Hart and Cade Covalt accounted for two touchdowns apiece.

Liles to shoot for GWR

A local pastor is aiming to set yet another Guinness World Record ths week. Jeff Liles will be shooting free throws for 24 straight hours beginning Friday, Oct. 4. His goal is to make 15,000 free throws alternating between overhead and “granny” style.

Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: September 9 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer. Officer Dustin Brodrick responded to Atwoods, 1213 S. Main St., in reference to a reported theft of a pair of boots.

Rotary Club hosts trio of KHS seniors

Kingfisher’s Rotary Club hosted a trio of Kingfisher High School seniors during a recent meeting. Joining the civic group were Gye Roedel, Noah Smith and Colby Campbell. Roedel is the son of Ellie Darnell and Mike Roedel.
