County tables seismic permit request

Kingfisher County commissioners tabled action Monday on a permit request from TGS Geophysical Services LLC to do seismic work on and along county roads in the county.

Benefit tourney set

A benefit four-person scramble in memory of Glenda Boeckman Wolf with proceeds going to the AMBUCS playground begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Kingfisher Golf Course.

Cashion names teachers of the year

Cashion Public Schools recently named its teachers of the year for the 2018-19 school year. Honored were Andrea Taylor at the high school and Lori LaFortune at the elementary. The awards were announced after a vote of the district’s teachers. LaFortune currently teaches fourth grade math.

Gilmour G.E. Award Winners

First graders Brady Calamateo, left, and Elexa DeAlba were recognized earlier this month as Gilmour Elementary’s Great Expectations Citizenship Award winners. They were honored during Jacket Roundup on April 5. The students are chosen for the awards by teachers.

Local students earning UCO degree

The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate the achievements of approximately 1,937 graduates during the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies May 10-11 in Central’s Hamilton Field House.Oklahoma Congresswoman Kendra S. Horn will address graduates at the 6 p.m. ceremony Saturday, May 11.

Okarche Elementary 4th graders visit state Capitol

Okarche’s fourth grade class visited the state Capitol on April 24. Among the stops was a visit with House Majority Leader Mike Sanders, R-Kingfisher. “I really enjoyed visiting with these amazing young students,” Sanders said.

Cashion claims 4th straight regional

The defending Class 2A champs are now four-time regional champs. Cashion’s girls bested the field in Stroud last Saturday to win a 2A track and field regional championship for the fourth consecutive year. The Lady Wildcats scored 110 points.

TENNIS DUO FIFTH AT REGIONAL

Kingfisher’s Taylor Watkins, left, and Mia Farrell just missed out on the state tennis tournament. The Lady Jacket duo placed fifth in No. 2 doubles in the 4A regional at Earlywine Tennis Center in Oklahoma City.

Mecklenburg, Stephenson, York jump to regional gold

Ally Stephenson is a regional champ and Madeline Loosen is a state qualifier in four events after last Saturday’s Class 4A track and field regional in Chisholm. Stephenson continued to excel in the high jump as she won the event after clearing 5-foot-2, which no other competitor could do.
