2 city races develop

Races have developed for two of the three openings on the Kingfisher City Commission.The filing period for potential candidates ended Feb. 7.When it did, it was determined Geoff Covalt would run unopposed as Kingfisher’s mayor.

Lenten Services Continue Wednesday

No big news was good news as far as the City of Kingfisher’s annual audit is concerned.Chuck Crooks, CPA, representing the CBEW Professional Group accounting firm, reported that the recent audit of the city’s financial situation found Kingfisher to have a “clean report, with no issues whatsoever.

Chiefs hope Tuesday drive brings life-saving donations

This will be the final time for Kingfisher’s two current chiefs to battle it out.And you can help determine the winner.The 10th annual “Guns n Hoses” blood drive is set this Tuesday, Feb. 20.It will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kingfisher Elks Lodge and is hosted by Our Blood Institute.

A sneaky one-inch to two-inch snow slipped into Kingfisher County Sunday evening.On top of a day of light rain on Sunday, the total moisture from the weekend totaled .62 inch at the National Weather Service station manned by Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis.

Semrad appointed to HPS board

Dakota Semrad was unanimously voted as a member of Hennessey’s Board of Education during the board’s regular meeting Monday night, Feb. 12.Semrad, an Enid attorney and a 2011 Hennessey High School graduate, was not at the meeting.He will take his oath of office and seat on the board next month.

The bathroom addition at the cemetery means water will be needed.That’s why Hennessey trustees accepted a $9,795 estimate from Lang Well Drilling, Enid, to drill a water well up to 60 feet.
