Every stroke matters in golf and Monday proved that for the Kingfisher High School boys team.Kingfisher shot a 646 over 36 holes to tie for third place in its 3A boys golf regional.

Okarche’s boys didn’t just qualify for the Class 2A state golf tournament.They made sure they went in as regional champs.The Warriors won a 2A regional Monday at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club in Seminole.Okarche shot a 36-hole total of 677 to defeat Nowata by four strokes. Fairland was third at 700.

Parker Mitchell isn’t just a force on the basketball court.He’s a whiz in the classroom as well.The Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association recently honored the Cashion seniors and several others in announcing its 2026 academic all-state team.

Scout Snodgrass was a two-time conference champ and nearly a third in Tuesday’s Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Meet at Weatherford.The KHS senior won the 800 meter run and anchored the winning 3,200 meter relay team at the event.

The Kingfisher boys soccer team picked up another big win on Tuesday.The Jackets downed ASTEC Charter 4-1 in Oklahoma City in a District 3A-2 matchup.The win improved KHS to 5-2 in the district and secured third place in the district.

Lomega was swept by Leedey in a Class B baseball district on Thursday.The Bison eliminated the Raiders with wins of 8-0 and 9-1.The Raiders finished the season 6-14 •••Okarche received a bye for its district round in Class A.The top-ranked Warriors will host a regional this week.

Senior Luciano Orozco fired a 1-over-par 71 on Wednesday to win the individual championship of the Marlow High School Boys Invitational golf tournament.Orozco’s round featured four bogeys and three birdies and he played the backnine in 1-under par.

The Kingfisher High School girls golf team fell short in its bid for state, but will be sending an individual.Layla Kroener shot a 97 Monday in a 4A regional at the Elk City Golf & Country Club.

Dover’s quest to get back to the state baseball tournament began Thursday with a district championship.The fourth-ranked Longhorns thumped visiting Sweetwater 8-0 and 12-0 to sweep a best-of-three series in their Class B district.

Two local groups with the mission of serving others in need will benefit this year from local golfers.The Kingfisher Golf Association’s 11th annual benefit tournament will be held Saturday, May 2.The four-person scramble will tee off at 9 a.m. at Kingfisher Golf Course.
