  The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: July 29 - Petit larceny. Officer Dillon Chaloupek responded to a report of theft in the 200 block of South Fifth Street.

Traffic accidents

The following traffic accident is being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:July 27, 5:45 p.m. - At 200 W. Starlite Drive. Terry Nugent, 64, Cashion, driving a 2007 Chevrolet, was entering Walmart parking lot and struck the concrete base of a parking lot pole.

GERKEN HEIFER WINS CLASS – PVF Missie 9247 won owned heifer class 10 at the 2020 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), July 22-24 in Tulsa. Victoria Gerken of Cashion, far right, owns the winning heifer.

July rain brings drought recovery

July brought a near miraculous recovery to Kingfisher County and much of Oklahoma. The state faced with an intensifying drought headed into summer’s scorching middle stanza.

Storms bring more rain, cool temps to area

Kingfisher County received additional rain early Wednesday. Thunderstorms brought as much as 2.9 inches in the Loyal-Omega area. The unexpected moisture provided another boost to area crops, pastures, lawns and gardens following unusually heavy rains in July.

Hennessey enrollment down

Hennessey Public School’s first day enrollment was 847 students, down from 889 last September. However, numbers typically increase after Labor Day when families settle in to the school routine. Enrollment in 2018 was 864.

Standing in the Gap

Thanks to one local church offering space and others offering resources, Kingfisher County Department of Human Services will have a home for child welfare services after the local DHS office closes.

Candidates introduced for rodeo royalty

Kingfisher Roundup Club will crown a 2020 rodeo queen and princess at the annual rodeo this weekend. Queen contestants include Lesli Olivas of Hennessey and Jamie Goldman of Waukomis and Kayla Kremeier of Okarche is the princess contestant.

63rd rodeo slated Friday, Saturday

The 63rd annual Kingfisher Roundup Club Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday at the rodeo grounds at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds in Kingfisher. A pre-show will begin at 7:45 p.m.with the rodeo starting at 8 p.m. each evening.
